Foster Solutions migrated the Village of Nyack website from Drupal to WordPress, completing our own migration to specializing solely with WordPress sites for our small/medium sized projects.
The site is using the Genesis StudioPress framework, and has many features such as custom post types for documents and people, rotating banner, and dynamic content gallery.
FSI collaborated with Daisy Olsen to build a snappy layout that is both aesthetically pleasing and content rich.
Nassau County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a state funded not-for-profit and is part of a network of 3,000 disctricts nation wide. It educates the community on how to protect the area’s soil and water resources.
FSI used a modified child theme of the Genesis framework from Studiopress.
The site includes many CMS features such as a section for Staff and Board members to upload restricted files, many custom post types such as events, educational activities, projects, etc.
Directory of Major Malls (DMM) has the premier database of North American shopping centers.
In addition to needing a new website, DMM required a streamlining of the database maintenance process.
FSI teamed with partner GORGES to migrate the current SQL Server database to a Cloud hosting solution, and a data e-commerce platform.
FSI’s broad experience in GIS and marketing made tying DMM’s data with other geographic data (from a partner data provider) simple. These new partnerships allowed DMM to leverage their database to increase sales.
Mediamark Research Inc. (MRI) owns perhaps the most comprehensive consumer panel survey. As it says on MRI’s website:
MRI has been the dominant voice in media and consumer research in the United States. No other organization – not even the Census Bureau – knows more about American consumers.
FSI initially was brought in to improve an existing project management tool for their interactive department. When FSI was hired, the tool was a simple MS Access file tracking all the Interactive division’s customer surveys. As the application became more complex, the system was upgraded to a SQL Server back end.
FSI has worked on various projects for MRI, including automating the migration from one panel software platform to another (see case study).
NeighborWorks America is a national not-for-profit created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts. It has been a client of FSI since 2001 as well as an employer for Doug Foster.
FSI and Doug Foster worked with the Campaign for Homeownership, working on various programs such as the housing rehab program, manufactured housing and green building. FSI provided GIS services, mapping HomeOwnership Centers and their markets.
FSI provided many services for the City of Ithaca. Doug Foster worked with the City for 10 years as a professional planner and founder/manager of its geographic information system.
After Doug left and created FSI, he continued to develop the GIS (using MapInfo and MapXtreme) and automate online form submission.
FSI built several, very complex reports (see case study) for JP Morgan Chase, retrieving data from many sources, including an Oracle customer database. Reports were created in Excel VBA. This allowed very specific and complex interface to be generated in an environment that’s familiar to managers.
FSI’s market research knowledge proved invaluable in helping the client determine proper metrics and the best formats to display the data.
Survey Sampling is a large, corporate site in eight languages. FSI partnered with GORGES to rebuild the site in Drupal 6. SSI’s site involved complex programming for taxonomies, localization and publishing work flow.
